Why every Indonesian need to read Jakarta Post

with 3 comments

Well is not about a news that written in English. I believe that the importance of Jakarta Post is not how they produce a news written in international language. But there are several reasons that makes me need to read Jakarta Post on daily basis.

Here is my reasons why we need to read Jakarta Post on daily basis:

1. To have Better Understanding on Cultural Issues
Here is the main reasons, is not about what happen in other country. But it’s on what other country think about us, and what Indonesian want to be. Globalization in other word, has changed us, change everything. Is inevitable, one must accept what is happening in the world now and realize that in order to survive, in order to have a better life (which the option is available), a sacrifice should be made. A sacrifice to read what sometimes things that you don’t want to read, beside read everything that you want to read.

2. Better Commenting System
Well at least better than Kompas. Commenting system is not only the rank about what is the best or the worse opinion by number of vote, but also who the people that give the comments. Newspaper is about public opinion, with the 2.0, credibility is required and to have a good commenting system is a must.

3. Network with Regional Newspaper
Strait Times, The Star, Thailand and Philippines. This newspaper provide a coverage for South East Asian update on what happen in the region and their point of view.

4. Editoral
The thinking newspaper, well I know I have limitation on the flood of information everyday. But an note from editor, where I believe that he is read or at least responsible for all product in the newspaper, a view from editorial will provide an insight for what we need to be aware of.

5. Comment is free
As Guardian vs New York Times produce a reading in amount that even I am not sure how to keep track with them. Jakarta Post is an asset for Indonesia.

  1. Hi Mas. I like photos published in JP. They take the photos in a perfect angle.

Anyway, do you read it everyday?
