Short-Lived Climate Forcer (SLCF) vs Long-Lived Greenhouse Gas (GHG)

leave a comment »

From environmental perspective we know that there are two types of pollutant: short and long lived. An energy demand has this two type of pollutant. Coal power plant for example, Coal-fired power plants influence climate via both the emission of long-lived carbon dioxide (CO2) and shortlived ozone and aerosol precursors (Shindell, 2010).

CO2 lifetime might reach decade or centuries
SLCF such as Ozone and Black Carbon is in days 3-18 days, while Methane up to 12 years.
