Indonesia Solar PV Potential: 27 GWp
Indonesia Ministry of Energy in 2014 annual statistic report mention that the potential of solar PV based on radiation is around 4.8 Kwh/m2/day or 112 TWp (in ESDM news is 112.000 GWp). The number is from 4.8 KWh/m2/day * land size (1.9 M km2) = 9100 TWh/day, by using 15% and (assuming 8% land mass occupied) we get 112 TWp). Looking from research point of view, I found these number below which more promising:
Based on paper above, I found several important thing, which are on the purpose of research and the systematically research methodology. A good news, I found that Prof. Angele Reinders is an expert in this field, especially in Indonesia. Solar energy potential is not an easy things to do. Having a chance to see the recent research on energy measurement is a inspiring moment. However, adding another information also might add some other confusing.
Another study by IEA on solar PV technology roadmap is interesting on the definition such as efficiency and capacity factor. More over another measurement on global solar electric potential by Castro, 2013 provide another measurement from global level.
In finding other sources, I found that a study on solar energy in malaysia (Mekhilef et al 2011) and other study from Indonesia using mathematical approach by Halawa and Sugiyatno, 2001 provide another useful information.
