WALHI, CIFOR, REDD+: More Question than Answer

leave a comment »

Well, I don’t know it is good news or bad news. On one side, I got plenty of resources from organization and research center like WALHI (Wahana Lingkungan Hidup) (b 1980), CIFOR (Center for International Forestry Research) (b 1993), REDD+ (b 2000), Greenpeace (b 2000). WALHI is very popular in media and its advocation, REDD+ also with emphasis on Forest, and CIFOR the all in (research, advocation) on Indonesian Forest.

Checking what they have done in recent year on number of research, observation and effort, I am feel not confident with the effort that I have and will done. Seems that they already perform a very excellent report. But on another side, I realize that the research on environment is needed in Indonesia.

Well, finally, from David Gaveau writing, that there are more question than answer.
1. Will fires become more frequent and more extreme?
2. What are the true emissions of these fires?
3. To what extent do overlapping claims over land drive the fires?
4. Do markets for palm oil drive fires on peatlands?
