Indonesian Philosophy

As Indonesian, one of the life philosophy that I often hear, read and practiced is on “respect with elderly” it built in Indonesian life, for example the use of Bapak-ism, which are paternalistic culture and also the use of Ibu, Abang, Mbak in our daily conversation. This respect with elderly can be traced with Hsiao, Confucianism Fillial Piety, in the 500-200BC due to migration of Chinese to Indonesia on Confucianism, more over its align with Islam Birrul Walidain, so its not about the javanase culture, but in general its Indonesian philosophy and culture.

The second philosophy that I often heard is about hardwork/diligence, or in javanese is “Sregep”. But its not a philosophy, its more about work ethics and work ethics just like diligence is neutral value just like seven virtues
