Big Picture: Environment Science
“Origin, Causal vs Impact, Consequences, Effect”
Study is one of the type of occupation. When we are high school student we are paid by our parents as the reward of our attendance to school. When we are a lecturer, we are paid by university as the reward of our service: teaching. We can study everything and become very expert at something but if our status is student we can not do anything. To make an impact, we need to change the student status.
There is no consequences of being smart, but there is a consequences of being politician. There is no consequences of being knowledgeable, but there is a consequences of having a power. Knowledge is not a power. Knowledge need to transform into institution where it has power
The problem with economics
The problem with economics is it see human as the center of everything. Human is both of causal and effect. Just like cycle of poverty -a point where it is not clear which one is causal which on is effect.
The problem with geography is it see human as the causal of everything. Pollution caused by human, energy exploration caused by human existence.
When geography see innovation, geography think that it was natural event. However when economics see innovation, economics think that innovation is both of natural event and both of human decision.
Which approach is better
When the goal is sustainability, environment might be the best school.
When the goal is practicability, economics might be the best school.
However, when the goal is to study, one must have a clear definition and explanation which school that he follows.
