Modelling vs Theoretical Approach: Energy Development

leave a comment »

Indonesia has unsustainable energy development

  • It caused by lag in energy ladder (theoritical) > see other paper
  • It caused by slow in energy transition (theoretical) > see other paper
  • It caused by low utilization in renewable energy (modelling) > see other research
  • It caused by lack of understanding in environmental impact (modelling) > see other research

Energy infrastructure development is slow (argument), indicated by energy supply is inadequate, refinery is limited, SOE too dominant (facts supporting argument). A study (Basri Hill 2004) indicated that energy policy is significant factor contributing the development.

Diversification of energy sources has been important factors for Indonesia government (argument), indicated by national energy policy which increase RE by 23% and reduce GHG by 26%. A study (Rachmatullah et al 2007) indicated that it can reduce GHG by 15% by using integrated coal gasification and advanced gas combined cycle.

Others Note.
Energy development is slow (argument). From period of 1980 to 2010 average growth of Geothermal is only 6-7% (facts supporting argument).

Looks good :)
