How to be a good manager

leave a comment »

Menurut saya yang paling efektif adalah i) economic of scale.

Menarik.

Sociology is better than psychology

leave a comment »

Everything is social construction. Violence is social construct.

Quora: Which subject is better, sociology or psychology?

Having spent 20 years in Psychology (currently a professor), I can assure you that psychology is an elitist science that focuses on the individual while completely ignoring the context.

Someone’s racist? Oh it’s the individual, just give him/her bias training and it will be fine. Forget about the larger social context (for example, where does racism come from? Which necessitates a critical reflection on issues such as colonialism and Western imperialism).

Mental health issues? Oh let’s get you therapy, forget about structural problems such as sexism, racism or poverty.

Similarly with political psychology, oh you’re conservative? That’s because of internal characteristics such as dogmatism or fear for change. Again, forget about larger contextual changes that may explain people becoming more right- or left-wing

Violence is examined out of a socio-psychological perspective.
Direct violence is thus not only a social construct that is rooted in the potential for violence in the structure and culture of a society, but also the reflection of the psyche of a society in the minds of men, of its cultural belief systems and structural integrity. Violence, in this regard, is more than just the intent to harm (Carlson et al., 1989). It is expressive of the instability of the society in which it takes place. It is the embodiment and concretisation of cultural and structural conflict.

Menarik ref, ref, ref, kebetulan lihat Baliho promosinya pada bulan Ramadhan. Property business is infrastructure business (high cost), if infrastructure business run by fast moving style, the less risky consumer business should be more aggresive.

Truth about banking

leave a comment »

1.Banking strategies are speculative until they survive a downturn.
2.Analysts and commentators in every generation proclaim the death of traditional banking, but banks and their branches are still here. ref

1.Banks create new money when they lend, which can trigger and amplify financial cycles. (banks fund new loans by creating new deposit money – Schumpeter, 1954)
2.Saving does not finance investment, financing and money creation do. ref

In short banking is speculative business, (Everything-is-theoretically-impossible-until-it-is-done vibe), where you formalize the speculation through risk management. Risk management is pseudoscience and management is basically exploitation -sarcasm mode on.

I found its weird people can give advice on something that they already know. For example in the area of business improvement. I think to have comprehensive business improvement, it should be covers:

Law > Lawyer
I need someone who know about the legal aspect, the government relationship guy that know how to make things work. However sometimes the legal specialist that applicable in market is only the one that its purpose is as giving “stempel” (stamp of approval).

Accounting > Accountant
Basically I need someone that very good at number.

Tech Guy?
Well, I don’t think that I am going to need this kind of guy. This is the worst, as the advice mainly will be coming from:
Apps: Collaboration/Strategy/Customer (Business Tech)
Infra: Data/Tech/Security (Info Tech) > Process/Operating Model

For example according to OJK:
1.Data (Protection, Transfer, Governance)
2.Technology (Governance, Architecture, Emerging)
3.Risk Management (Outsourcing, Security)
4.Collaboration (Platform sharing, Collaboration)
5.Institutional Arrangements (Finance, Culture, Leadership, Organizational Design, Talent)
6.Customer (Engagement, Experience, Trust)

Management is scam: incompetent realist

leave a comment »

Management is scam, business is speculation, there is no theory just a random test

Interesting, you don’t need a specific skill to be a manager. To be manager the requirement is mainly experience. Absurd right, when a job like nurse need certain hours of training to be competent, for a manager you don’t need any hours of training to be expert.

wiki: peter principle, dilbert principle, precarious work, Reserve army of labour, professional–managerial class, Private military company, Political repression, Self-organization behavior, spontaneous order
quora: What were the ideological differences between Max Weber and Karl Marx?, How did the Soviets win World War II, despite having incompetent commanders?

VP, Director, Manager: Do Titles Really Matter? There are no universally accepted definitions of what the titles Vice President, Director, Manager, Assistant or Associate mean. Job titles are far less important than the actual tasks and responsibilities of the position

To appease or to repress: how dictators use economic dynamics to increase their regime longevity

The essential things in management is not resources (labor) but weberian analysis e.g class (money), status (prestige) and party (political affiliation) or culture (symbols, language, norms, values, and artifacts)
