Istirahat

Di Inggris cuaca buruk tidak bisa dihindari, hujan bisa turun sepanjang hari. Dalam satu bulan, pasti ada hari dimana cuaca sangat buruk, buruk dalam artian sangat ekstrim. Hari rabu panas, tiba-tiba hari kami dingin dengan angin kencang. Hampir dipastikan dalam satu bulan pasti ada 1-2 hari seperti ini. Hari ekstrim seperti ini berbahaya, lebih baik konstan panas atau konstan dingin.

Bulan 1 – October 2016, sakit 1 hari, parasetamol
Bulan October 2016, saya mulai track lari secara rutin. Namun beberapa komponen belum rutin saya track seperti renang dan waktu tidur. Renang juga berkontribusi terhadap sakit, karena suhu angin yang relatif dingin. Bulan October 2016, saya mengkonsumsi satu tablet parasetamol

Bulan 2 – November 2016, sakit 1 hari, fever (no parasetamol)
Bulan 3 – December 2016, sakit 1 hari, fever (no parasetamol)
Bulan 4 – January 2016, sakit 1 hari, fever (no parasetamol)
Bulan 5 – Feb 2016, sakit 2 hari, diare, fever (no parasetamol)
Bulan 6 – Mar 2017, CLEAN, tracking sleep, swim every week (no parasetamol)
Bulan 7 – Apr 2017, sakit 1 hari, fever, parasetamol
Bulan 8 – May 2017, sakit 2 hari, fever, parasetamol

Kalau dilihat dari kacamata pekerjaan, mengambil cuti sakit selama 1 hari setiap 3 bulan sekali (average UK 2015, average UK 1993 setiap 2 bulan sekali). Merupakan hal yang wajar. Sebagai orang kantor, rata-rata sakit satu hari perbulan termasuk wajar. Anak-anak mungkin lebih sering lagi. Namun bedanya orang kantor cenderung reaktif dengan meminum obat atau tidak mau beristirahat.

The purpose of running

I start to realize, the purpose of running is not for competition. It is also not to prove ourselves that we can defeated challenge, not to prove ourselves that we can be disciplied, have commitment with something, or simply have purposes. The purpose of running is not something that people said “running of something”. The purpose of running is simply to have fun, a meditation, a time where you spent with yourself, everyday 1-2 hours. The purpose of running is meditation, relaxation, knowing that we can escape, whatever life treat us.

However, even we use running as meditation, certain measurement is still required. The same as if we think our life is a journey travel around the world, we have a certain physical measurement like money, age, works. The same with running, the measurement is cortisol level, endorphins level and all hormones related with physical exercise.

Dampak Kesehatan

Semisal saya meneliti mengenai dampak kesehatan smartphone (HP), maka saya akan masuk area epidemological per individu e.g seberapa besar potensi kematian akibat main HP, apakah memperpendek umur 10 tahun, 15 tahun atau apakah HP jenis tertentu yang bisa menyebabkan kematian (regresion analysis). Bisa juga saya masuk ke area exposure e.g berapa banyak orang yang bisa mati (dihitung dari berapa jumlah HP), apakah 100rb, 200rb. Bisa juga saya masuk ke intervensi-nya, policy apa yang bisa dibangun, apakah orang tidak boleh main HP, ataukah HP otomatis mati.

Memahami statistik kesehatan: Rekomendasi vs Rata-rata = Realistis

Rekomendasi olahraga menurut WHO/NHS adalah 150 menit/minggu atau dalam istilah lain 3×50 menit, atau 5×30 menit. Tiga sampai lima kali seminggu. Namun, kenyataannya, tidak banyak yang bisa mencapai angka rekomendasi ini. Contoh di Inggris, 63%nya tidak mencapai angka rekomendasi ini. Dalam istilah yang lain, rata-rata orang US hanya berolahraga 3×30 menit dalam seminggu. Dari data di US, 51% berolahraga hanya 3x seminggu, 18% 1-2x seminggu dan 30% tidak pernah berolahraga.

Artinya, ada gap yang sangat besar pada bidang olahraga antara:
Rekomendasi: 150 menit (5×30, 3×50)
Rata-rata: 90 menit (3×30, 2×45, 1×90)
Realistis: tidak pernah berolahraga

Ini juga terjadi pada bidang lain, semisal sex:
Rekomendasi: 1x/minggu, 3x/minggu
Rata-rata: 1x/minggu
Realistis: tidak pernah reguler, tergantung kesibukan

Tahun 2013 adalah berat badan tertinggi saya, diatas 67kg (BMI 25.2 overweight). Berat badan, ini adalah rata-rata tertinggi, karena seingat saya, jarum timbangan sudah bergerak ke angka 68, 69 dan mendekati level psikologis 70kg. Angka 70kg adalah angka psikologis yang belum pernah saya tembus, dan selanjutnya adalah berat 80kg (BMI 30 obesity). Saat ini BMI saya adalah 22.5 (160cm/60kg)

  • Data Sleep Cycle Apps tahun 2015 atas 900,000 user. Rata-rata orang Inggris tidur selama 7:22 (Indonesia 6:42) dan bangun jam 7:33AM (Indonesia 6:55AM).
  • Data pooling Cambridge Weight Plan tahun 2012 atas 3000 orang. Rata-rata orang Inggris selama 7 jam dan bangun jam 7:12AM

Is poverty mental or physical problem?

I start to realize when I wake up at 00:15 this morning, and cannot sleep for more than 2:30 hours, and only be able to sleep after taking placebo drugs as paracetamol, that this is not a mental problem, but a physical problem.

However, I only able to contemplate this in the late morning during my morning run. Well, if I believe that poverty is not caused by lazy attitude, but more caused by structural problem such as inability of government to create job, so it goes the same with depression. Depression is not caused by mental problem such as too many works, deadline, or losing family member. But it can be tracked to imbalance brain chemical, irregular eating/exercise/sleeping patern and voila you got depression.

Overthinking is common sympton of depression, and it is not something that caused depression. Once you are overthinking you are in depression. And overthinking is not a way to solve a problem.

Just as last night, I spend that wasteful 2:30 hours just to think how I write about Indonesia energy description, which is you know very stupid.
